Sophia Silverman

Sophie is studying Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology at the University of California, Los Angeles, and expects to graduate in 2026.

At DDL she focuses on investigating the role of the enteric nervous system in Alzheimer’s disease, developing techniques to extract, culture, and differentiate enteric neurons from adult mouse models. She also applies immunofluorescence and quantitative image analysis to study neuronal and glial markers.

After graduating, Sophie hopes to pursue a career in medicine while continuing to contribute to research on neurodegenerative disorders.

In her free time, she enjoys teaching yoga sculpt classes, spending time with friends and family, and exploring new food spots around Los Angeles.
